My son usually cannot pay attention to anything for more than 15 mins at a time, I'm pretty sure it's screen related, but nonetheless is true. I got these in hopes I could go more than 15 mins without hearing, "I'm bored" and to my surprise, it actually worked. These are no more than 2 inches tall so they were small enough to complete in one sitting. I think if they were any bigger, he would have lost interest. It typically took him about 40 mins to complete one and part of the appeal was that he could see that he was almost done so he just spent the extra time to complete it instead of giving up. He is 8 years old and has issues with fine dexterity with his hand so this activity helped him with that since you hold the application stick like you do a pencil. The green tray that came in the set was not great though. It had a closed end which meant putting left over diamonds back into their container was a chore. He spilled them the first time so I gave him a white tray from one of my old sets to use. Other than that, this set was great and worth every penny.A pro tip- for those parents wanting a complete break, to make this set more kid friendly, I wound recommend getting small containers for the diamonds to go in. I have one that is used for jewelry making but you don't have to get one specifically for jewelry. Having these containers means that i didn't have to open and dispense the diamonds and then put them away for a color a change. My son could do it all by himself since he couldn't open the ziploc bags that came in the set.
